Three Victories for Dr. King Essays - Community Organizing Professor Frazier Eng 1101-125 30 September 2015 Three Victories for Dr. King Martin Luther King, Jr. helped to bring out great changes in American society. As the leader of the civil rights movement, his strategy of nonviolent protest helped to end degregation in the South and enabled millions of blacks to register to vote for the first time. During the course of his inspiring career, Dr. King won key victories for the civil rights movement in the cities of Montgomery, Birmingham, and Selma, Alabama. The first major victory Dr. King won was in Montgomery, Alabama. There was a 42 year old seamstress by the name of Rosa Parks. She was riding the bus one day and just so happened that 4 white men boarded it.
